About

Businesses and People for Immigration is an advocacy campaign that underscores the importance of immigrants to the state of Michigan. It seeks to elevate the economic case for immigration and engage business leaders, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations and individuals who believe the Michigan economy is improved through immigration, along with other, nontraditional or missing voices in the immigration debate.

 

The founding sponsor is Global Detroit, a regional economic development and community development organization. In 2017, Global Detroit launched Champions for Growth, a platform for sharing economic research on the contributions of immigrants and refugees, organizing educational summits and other events, and pursuing advocacy work on behalf of the economic contributions made by immigrants in Michigan. Now in 2025, our collective response is Businesses and People for Immigration.
